Joseph sat in a rather small conference room having been seen to this room by a friendly secretary who had assured him that the one he came here for would arrive soon. His arrival was unannounced and spontaneous, exactly how he liked it.

It gave him a chance to see how the famous Devon Corp operated on a daily basis unfiltered and he had to say that he wasn’t exactly impressed. But it would be a lie to not say that his opinion of the organization has be colored rather unfavorably over the course of time so a bias had to be admitted.

Though he would argue that this judgment did not come unwarranted or unfounded and in fact, he figured most would agree if they had the information he did. But it was as the saying goes; “How the mighty have fallen.” And it was, of course, a sad sight to see and this extended to the whole region, not just the Devon Corporation.

In Joseph limited time in the tropical region had been met with nothing but continuous concern after concern. Part of his assignment here was to survey the region, check the state it was in and putting things lightly the results were mixed.

This was in part why he was here to meet with the head of Devon; an individual he was slightly surprised to hear was in the position. He supposed it made sense but the last he saw this person she did not seem like the type that would be interested in such a position and Joseph was not the type to often misread people.

But he was no stranger to the concept of being forced to take a responsibility that one did not wish to have. So it was time to see how they handled the new found responsibility.

So as Joseph waited he entertained himself by playing games with his Liepard that sat next to him. He checked his watch, noted the time, and continued what he was doing. Hopefully, he would not be kept waiting for much longer.

slowly, but surely. [break][break]

the day gave her no break in visitors, nor work. with the company still taking its time in readjusting with the new head, she had her hands full trying to get everything situated and organized - let them be internal affairs or external. it had been busy, busy (she found it more vexing than her days in university, and she could only hope that the calm would come after the storm instead of before). nevertheless, she is quick to pack up the appropriate documents into a file before taking another look at the desk for anything else. the dark, wooden desk was spotless and, thanks to the glaze over it, she was able to see a deep coloured reflection of herself. she uses a moment to carefully part her bangs before heading out; she didn't want to look like she tried to get ready in ten seconds. [break][break]

her heels click down the hallways until she arrives at the elevator and is greeted by a secretary to escort her down to the specific chamber. though she couldn't hold anyone accountable except herself, part of her was upset at how the secretary suddenly, with very little regard, rang her without much an appointment. it happened so quickly and she was going to immediately reject the meeting. that is, until she was told who, specifically, it was. [break][break]

of course he would turn up without a warning. [break][break]

she lets out an exasperated (though quiet) sigh. she takes dinging of the elevator passing each floor to slow and regulate her breathing, more so she doesn't sound like she didn't try to run down the halls in heels in a desperate attempt to keep the attendee from waiting too long. once she arrives, she is escorted to the room. when she opens the door, she sees the young brunette sitting at the conference table with his feline pokemon. with the wave of her hand towards the escort, they nod and leave the room to the two business partners. [break][break]

daphne walks to the table and takes a seat in the chair at the narrow end of the table. "apologies for keeping you waiting." she starts, then taking another deep breath. this was business, so it's okay. "... what is your reason for coming?" a habitual question from when she was a doctor.

Finally she arrived! Joseph could only play with his Liepard for so long before that even got boring. Part of him was actually entertaining the idea of her standing him up, as ridiculous as that sounds. Not as if he would care much about it despite not liking his time to be wasted.

It’d be his benefactor that Stone would have to deal with and she would be much less pleasant than Joseph. And even making that phone call would be unpleasant as somehow Joseph would end up getting in trouble for someone else’s mistake, happens more often than he likes.

He watched carefully as she walked to the chair, it was so obvious how much was on her mind. Joseph smiled and shook his head at the sight of her. She must be trying quite hard to balance everything that was on her plate and trying to do that on this scale with her experience was as easy as trying to calm down a rampaging Gyarados.

”Oh come on, why are you being so formal?” His smirk turned into a pout.

”No hello, Joseph? How are you doing, Joseph? Long-time no see, how ya been? Hell, I’d even take a how may I help you today Mr. Wick!” He’d scoff.

”This isn’t some sort of interrogation it's okay to relax. We can chat about business in a little bit.” Okay he had his fun for now.

”I came to see how you’re doing, Daphne. Check up on how you’re doing. Hoenn’s been through hell and back and so have you so being the wonderful friend that I am I decided that I should come to pay you a visit. See how you're adjusting to everything.” As he spoke he moved his air through the air as if he was wiping something away.

”And of course my mother sent me here to discuss some other things but that’s not that important.” He quickly added, trying to draw much attention to that part.

needless to say, she was taken aback - solely because of the casual display he let out without any signs of restraint. [break][break]

she's left momentarily baffled, how was she supposed to respond? formalities demand her to be strict, direct and stern with her words. the purpose of this meeting demands to her to keep a levelled mind, and she was tempted to do exactly that. in response to his outburst, she only raises her hand to gently clear her throat into the cusp of her hand. it wasn't a good place for her to break character, especially not when she wassupposed to be the pillar and foundation of the corporation since her brother's departure. [break][break]

unfortunately, this was overridden at a couple more words from the young man across the table. [break][break]

oh, how she wanted to scold him right now. even if it would be uncouth for her, considering their relations and standing. truly, she was caught up in a dilemma for agreeing to meet with him in the first place. "arceus.." she mumbles, softly and under her breath. it wasn't long until the faint hint of a defeated smile creeps up to her lips. her stiff posture began to relax as she leans back into her seat. "if we came to talk about business, that should be the primary topic~.." she chimes, albeit weakly. [break][break]

"i'm sorry," she starts, though the apology is followed with a giggle in response to his latter comment. "things have been hectic, lately. i've been so sucked into this that i forget to turn off the formalities" she says in a jesting tone, even if it was the truth. Her body leans forwards to rest against the edge of the table, and she crosses her legs to get herself comfortable.[break][break]

"speaking of.. what did I say about formalities? i'd say they're pretty important, mmn?"
